A Fellow Human
Dave’s heart pounded relentlessly as he sprinted through the labyrinthine tunnels. His breaths came in gasps, and his weary legs ached from the prolonged exertion. Just when he believed he couldn’t continue any longer, exhaustion overcame him, causing him to trip and plummet onto the damp ground. Momentarily dazed and bewildered, he struggled to regain his composure.
An overwhelming sense of dread engulfed Dave as he contemplated the possibility of encountering the pursuing entity. Fear gripped him, and he braced himself for the worst. Opening his eyes, he found a figure standing before him. In that heart-stopping moment, he prepared for the imminent danger, only to realize that it was one of the firefighters who had been diligently searching for him.
