11. Northern Bald Ibis
The Northern Bald Ibis is a bird with a distinctive appearance that resembles a plague doctor from ancient times. Its skull-like bald head, spiky black feathers around the neck, and long, thin beak make it stand out.
This ancient bird has a history dating back 60 million years and was once commonly found in regions with dry climates like the Middle East and Northern Africa. However, its population has dramatically declined due to climate change and the use of pesticides. Currently, there are believed to be less than 1000 of these majestic birds left in the wild.
