8. No Red Pens
In Cornwall, England, teachers have been banned from marking students’ work in red ink. The school’s administration claims that red is too harsh a color and could hurt students’ feelings. Instead, teachers are instructed to use green pens and include positive comments, even if the work is subpar. Students are also given the opportunity to respond to the teacher’s grading using purple ink.
