7. The Real Wall
From a Roman Defensive Structure to Fragmented Remnants Hadrian’s Wall, spanning 73 miles across northern England, was built in 122 AD as a separation between the Roman Empire in Britain and the barbarians in the north. It once stood as an imposing barrier with mile castles, forts, and observation towers along its length. However, after the Romans left Britain, the wall fell into disrepair, with people repurposing its stones for other constructions. Today, only fragments of the wall remain, a testament to its former grandeur.
