3. Really Old Sarum

Echoes of a Lost Settlement Old Sarum, an Iron Age hillfort in England dating back to 400 BC, witnessed multiple occupations throughout history. Romans, Anglo-Saxons, and Normans successively inhabited the site. The Normans, in particular, made significant alterations by constructing a motte and a castle. Over time, the settlement declined, lost its population, and eventually became deserted. Today, only a few remnants remain, serving as clues to its once-important role in the region.
