African honeybees, also known as killer bees, can send a herd of elephants running for their lives. When bees sense a threat, they release alarm pheromones, alerting other bees to join in the defense. Elephants are highly sensitive to bee stings, particularly around their sensitive areas, such as the eyes, mouth, and trunk. The fear of being stung by swarms of aggressive bees can cause elephants to panic and flee in a stampede.
