2. Hippos: Crocodile Conquerors
Hippos may seem docile when they are peacefully lounging in the water, but they are one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. Responsible for approximately 500 human fatalities each year, hippos possess immense strength and a set of formidable tusks. These semiaquatic mammals can defend themselves against predators, including crocodiles. With their massive jaws and powerful bite force, crocodiles are fearsome predators, but when faced with a furious herd of hippos defending their young, they often retreat. The combination of a hippo’s aggression, formidable teeth, and sheer size makes them a force to be reckoned with, even for crocodiles.
